Dedication Herman Leo Brasfield April 24, 1917 - September 12, 1981 This interest in the Brasfield / Brassfield name came from my
father, Herman Leo Brasfield. He was born in Arkansas, one of 7
children. Near the end of the Great Depression, at the age of 21, he moved
with his parents and siblings to California. It was there that he met and
married my mother, Lois Marquiss in 1939. He went off to the Second World War with the U.S. 8th Army Air Corps and was
stationed in England. He returned to his family after the war and began a
long and successful career with the Department of Defense. He passed away
in Seattle, Washington in 1981. He was a kind and gentle man, very much respected by those that had the
opportunity to know him. He obtained a copy of the "McAllister"
book when it was first published, and I only regret that I did not do a better
job of listening when he talked of his life, times, and family. Michael David Brasfield July 16, 2000
