- LOUISVILLE - James Kenneth Brasfield, 77, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. A native of Monroe County, he was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Smithville to the late Alvis and Viola Maudine Faulkner Brasfield. He was a resident of Louisville and a born-again Christian. He was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hisaw Brasfield of Louisville, whom he married Aug. 2, 1986; a son, Mike Brasfield and wife, Becky, of Bogalusa, La.; a daughter, Lisa Brasfield of Bay St. Louis; two stepsons, John Staszefski and wife, Brenda, of Weir, and David Staszefski of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Jo Ann Hurt and husband, John, of Hartselle, Ala., and Diane Fondren and husband, Ricky, of Starkville; four grandchildren, 18 stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 18 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jackie Brasfield. Pallbearers will be Wesley Matthew, Michael Brasfield, Daniel Staszefski, Charles Graham, Ricky Fondren, John Hurt, John Staszefski Jr. and John Staszefski III. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
