ESTATE OF JOE A. BRASFIELD, DECEASED~
LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that I, JOE A. BRASFIELD, of Smithville, Monroe County,
Mississippi, being more than twenty-one years of age and of sound and disposing mind and
memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament; hereby revoking any
and all other will or wills heretofore by me made.
ITEM I. I will and direct that all of my Just debts and burial and funeral expenses
shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as may be convenient after my death.
ITEM II. It is my will and wish and I devise and bequeath all of my property of every kind
and character and wheresoever located to my children, Fleta Schumpert, Floyd Brasfield,
Nellie Stevens Jewel Nash, Casper Brasfield and LaVerne Brasfield, share and share alike;
and should any of my said children not survive me, leaving a child or Children, then In such
event it is my wish and will that the child or children of the deceased child (the devisee
herein) shall take the share that the parent would take, if living.
And I further will and direct that immediately at my death my Executors, hereinafter named,
shall take possession and control of all of my property and effects; that they shall have
control of and manage it as in their Judgment they may deem best; but there shall be no sale
or division of the property until the death of my wife, Mrs. Ora Brasfield, pro-vision for
whom I am making in the next paragraph hereof. But my Executors may from time to time divide
any net income or earnings of the property among the devisees herein, but they shall not
divide any of the corpus or original estate so long as my wife shall live.
ITEM III. I hereby nominate and appoint my sons, Floyd Brasfield and Casper Brasfield
Executors of this my will; and I here expressly relieve them of bond and of the duty of
making reports to the Court. But I expressly enjoin it upon my Executors and all of my
other children, the devisees herein, that they shall provide a reasonable support and
maintenance for my wife, Mrs. Ora Brasfield, so long as she may live and remain my widow.
As to my daughter, Flonnie Gilmore, who is not provided for herein, I request that they
supply to her from time to time such reasonable support and maintenance as in their
judgement they may think necessary.
IN TESTIMONY OF ALL OF WHICH witness my signature, this the 31st day of August, 1937. Joe A. Brasfield
We hereby certify that the above and foregoing instrument on the day and date thereof
as in our presence signed by the testator, Joe A. Brasfield, and by him declared to be
his last will and testament; and we, at his request and in his presence and in the
presence of each other, hereto subscribe our names as attesting Witnesses.
This the 31st day of August, 1937.

Yes, I am related to him. My grandmother was Martha Z. Brasfield daughter of Lafayette Brasfield and Betty Massengale. She was one of Joe's sisters. She married William Rueben Bunn. If you're interested you could check out www.bunncrib.50megs.com
