I am researching my husband's side of the family for our family tree and heritage book. His paternal grandmother was Lalia M. Brasfield. She married Ira B. Allen in Jun 1924. We are pretty sure that Lalia's mother was Vonia Sanford, who married D. Sid Brasfield in 1903, in Oklahoma (Info from censuses and the Brasfield/Brassfield genealogies website.) Lalia was born in 1904 in Allen, OK. i was hoping that someone might have some information on her or her parents. My husband never got to know his grandparents because of an argument his father Rholand M. Allen had with his dad Ira. My husband's mother was supposed to go visit them when they lived in Grand prairie, TX, but didn't because of the argument. So we didn't even know what their names were until I sent for his father's birth certificate. According to a census I saw D. Sid was supposed to be a son of Leonidus Brasfield.

Ira married BRASFIELD, Lalia M. on 18 Jun 1924 in Cove, Crawford, Arkansas, USA. Lalia (daughter of BRASFIELD, D Sid and SANFORD, Vonia) was born between Jun and Sep 1904 in Allen, Hughes, Oklahoma, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

I know that I wrote you some time ago telling you I had some new info for you, well here it finally is:

Ira B. Allen info from Census records and birth indexes.

Ira Benton Allen son of Nathaniel Orrin Allen and Rebecca Ella Coker (3rd wife).
Nathaniel married Sarah LeBow 1st, then Allena C.2nd, and lastly Rebecca Ella Coker 3rd.

Nathaniel & Sarah Evelyn LeBow had:
Catherine Fanny & Jane Emma (Twins, their first & mid names could be switched/interchanged, I was just guessing.) B: 1869 Ark Sarah E./Aletha B:4 Dec 1870 Ark Annie A. B:1872 Ark Charles "Chas" O. B: 1875 Tex Otto F. B:1877 Tex

Nathaniel and Allena C. had:
Flora M. B:1890 Tex

Nathaniel & Rebecca Ella (Coker) Birdsong (She was married before to Walter Birdsong) had:
Ella josephine B; Nov 1899
Ira Benton B:1902/1903? Ark

Rebecca kids with Walter S. Birdsong were:
Charles B: 1885 Tex
Sarah B: 1887 Tex
Walter B:1891 Tex
Mary B:1894 Tex

I kept going over and over the Census records because the info on Rebecca and Ella wasn't making sense, surely Nathaniel wasn't married 4 times. finally came to the conclusion that Rebecca and Ella are the same person, unless Nathaniel was married to 2 women at the same time.

Rebecca Coker was born in Nov of 1865 in Manchester, Red River Co., Texas and her father's name was Charles M. Coker but am not sure of the mother's name yet.

Nathaniel Orrin Allen is the son of Peter Benton/ Buell Allen & Mary Rowena Hoskins He was born 12 Feb 1844 Cove, Polk Co./ Sevier Co., Ark.
Died 29 sep 1933 and buried in the Pleasant grove Cemetery.

Well there is more detail but I sure you can take it from there.

Nathaniel married COKER, Rebecca Ella about 1898. Rebecca (daughter of COKER, Charles M. and UNKNOWN, Nancy) was born in Nov 1865 in Manchester, Red River, Texas, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

He was married for a very short time to Vonia Sanford. They had a daughter Lalia M. Brassfield. Sid was apparently killed by his wife's Family when he came to get his daughter, in June/ July 1905, according to tidbits I have gathered from newspapers. Any other details Like death date, where buried, would be greatly appreciated.

D married SANFORD, Vonia on 15 Nov 1903 in Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma, USA. Vonia (daughter of SANFORD, Isaiah S. Jr. and TUGGLE, Nancy Catherine) was born on 18 Oct 1886 in Alabama, USA; died on 5 Aug 1966; was buried in Polk County, Arkansas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
