CALHOUN CITY - Julia Rainey Brassfield, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and babysitter, and a member of the Way of the Cross Church of the Nazarene. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Howard Green and Bro. Mike Whitten officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery at Slate Springs. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy McNease of Calhoun City; two sisters, Geraldine Rimmer of Calhoun City and Nora Green of Bruce; six grandchildren, Tonya Ratliff, Ken "Bubba" McNease, Billy McNease, Mark McNease, Lisa Childress and Johnny Shields; 11 great-grandchildren. he was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brassfield; her parents, Johnny Rainey and Vadie Voyles Rainey; a daughter, Bonnie Brassfield Shields; a son, Johnny Ray Brassfield; and two sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be Billy McNease, Ken McNease, Mark McNease, Harvey Wright, Bobby Childress and Johnny Shields.
