    My grandfathers name was Francis Laffette Austin. We all called him Lafe, He was born in Wheeling , Missouri.His fathers name was James Austin ,buried in Denver, Co.James father was John Austin buried in Springfield, missouri.Prior to that I,m not sure. Grandpa had one sister named Arlis, and a brother named Luther.Luther disappeared. Their mother Elizabeth Smith, called "Jennie", Smith maiden name.The story is that she was kidnapped and taken to live with other man, and had two sons by him.His last name was Gibbins or Gibson.??Grandma and his sister & Luther where very young then .She was half Indain, her mother was Liza Brassfield,full blooded Indain.But which Tribe I haven,t found yet.Anyone in Colorado, or Missouri knowing of this family please contact me at patsya@altavista.com Thanks 9/6/2000

Vera Arlis , called Arlis, and Luther Austin. Luther died at age 19, after being shoot in the back in Durango, CO. Long story. Elizabeth was kidnapped when the children was very young, Lafe , my granddad was 3,taken away by a Mr. Gibson and had two sons for him. I would love to know where she went. Ok.maybe. She was part Indain.Mother Liz Brassfield full blooded.James was German buried here in Denver, Co. His father was John Austin.Theres many Austins its hard to find relationship far back. This was taken from a Charcoal drawing given to me from GAunt Arlis (by way of Uncle Roy, letter to prove it's a gift) On the back of the photo was written Patsy's great,great,great,grandmother Liza Brassfield full-blooded Cherokee Indian. Born Arkansas, buried St. Joseph, Ill.
