Notes: Owida Faye Brasfield Meek passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior August 21, 2010. She was born May 25, 1927, in Wardville, Oklahoma, to Etta Mae and J.P. Brasfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her two brothers, Troy and Dale. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe of Odessa; sister, LaVon Seymour of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter, Cheryl Richards and husband Dave of Odessa; son, Blake and wife Lynn of Roswell, New Mexico; daughter, Paula Mitchell and husband Todd of Odessa; grandchildren, April, Jessica, Emily, Jacob, Sarah, Kailee and Kameron; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Aiden and Addison. Owida and Joe were married June 20, 1950, in Bentonville, Arkansas. They were married 60 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her life she demonstrated what James called “pure and undefiled religion” in James 1 verse 27. She was always willing to give her time to help others - a true servant of Christ. She was well known for her cooking with friends and family commenting, “nobody cooks like Owida.” Her name evoked many questions to its origin - and the fact is she was named after an Indian princess. Owida loved her family and living life to the fullest. She will no doubt bring that same enthusiasm and joy to her new home in heaven. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. Celebration service will be Wednesday August 25, 2010, 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Bishop officiating. Donations may be made to the Younger Alzheimer’s Center at Manor Park, 2208 N. Loop 250 W. Midland, TX 79707-6000. Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Odessa.
