    August 2, 2000 4:02 PM Rev. James Brassfield 1939-2000 The Rev. James L. Brassfield, 60, of Gillett, Wis., formerly of Streator, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2000, at the home of his sister, Eunice Arrington, 1704 N. Shabbona St., Streator. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pulcifer, Wis. The Rev. John Latch will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Pulcifer. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Jonathan, Joel, Jody and Joshua Brassfield; a brother-in-law, James Arrington; and nephews, David Brassfield and Troy and Scott Arrington. Honorary pallbearers will be his daughter, Jessica Cam; nieces, Shawn Cox, Jamie Wisely, Debbie Marinello, Sally Krier, Susan Sherod, Jenny Danner, Rachel Butler and Lindsey Emery; and nephews, the Rev. James Sherod and Bradley Brassfield. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Born Oct. 15, 1939, in Streator, he was the son of Everette and Margaret (Sedory) Brassfield. He married Jacqueline M. ``Jackie'' Lechman on Aug. 24, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle. She survives in Gillett. Also surviving are sons, Jonathan (Jamie) Brassfield of Green Bay, Wis., Joel (Candy) Brassfield of Rushmore, Minn., and Jody (Tina) Brassfield and Joshua Brassfield, both of Worthington, Minn.; a daughter, Jessica (Mrs. Steve) Cam of Adrian, Minn.; one grandson; a brother, Eugene (Betty) Brassfield of Streator; and sisters, Marilyn (Mrs. Bill) Sherod of Weslaco, Texas, and Eunice (Mrs. James) Arrington of Streator. He was preceded in death by his parents. He served in the United States Army. He graduated from Ft. Lauderdale University in 1967, with a master of arts degree in business administration. He also graduated from Concordia Seminary in Springfield in 1972 with a master of divinity in theology. He served as vicar at Westport, Conn. He was an ordained Lutheran minister, serving as a clergyman in the LC-MS synod for 28 years. His pastorates included Siloam Springs, Ark.; Coventry, England; and Kenosha, Pulcifer, Green Valley and Clintonville, Wis. He served his last pastorate in Worthington, Minn., where he retired in 1999. He was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pulcifer, where he was on the Stewardship Board in the Minnesota South District. Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Streator.
