Herman hitchhiked and rode rails to California at age 19, then returned and in 1938 Jasper (59), Laura (56) and 3 children - Herman (21) , Sibyl (19), and Helen (20) made the trip from Arkansas to California (according to Sibyl Brasfield 7/2000). Did not mention Dorothy (25) or Fred (13). Fred signed up for the Civilian Convservation Corps (CCC) in 1935.
Herman spent 8 months in Germany 6/1945 - 1/1946, possibly in Kastle, Germany. Later spent brief time in Japan after WWII.
