Catherine Ferguson/peal Posted by Randy Peal on Tue, 15 Jun 1999 Surname: Ferguson, Peal, Badgett, Brasfield I'm looking for information about Catherine Ferguson that married Raspberry Peal married (abt. 1845). Raspberry Peal was in the 1850 census for Gibson county TN., which I belive was later named Crockett County TN. Raspberry Peal and Catherine Ferguson may also have ties in NC. Their Children are: Harriet L. Peal , Eugenia E. Peal, George Raspberry Peal, James Henry Peal, Johnathan Franklin Peal, Frances Peal, Robert silvester Peal (Married Anna Badgett they lived in Friendship TN.) Joe Cephas Peal married Eva Irene Brasfield. Also would like to know if anyone has information on Rasberry Peal's line, Raspberry Peal was born december 1st 1813 in williamson county North Carolina but could also be williamson county TN. And died Nov 12, 1885. If anyone has information about of any of these descendants please reply. Thanks..... ****************************** Hi michael, (9/12/2000) My name is Randy Peal and my Great Great Grandfather was James Henry Peal. He was known as Henry J. Peal, he was R.B Peal's son. There are some Brasfields in the family. Two that I can think of off hand Ira Brassfield who married Lula Peal and also Eva Irene Brasfield who married Joe Cephus Peal. That's the two I can think of off hand. It sounds like we are definately related. I look forward to hearing from you. From: Johnathan R. Peal "Randy" audioplus@home.com ********************************* Randy - (9/13/2000) Thanks for the contact. According to my genealogy software "relationship calculator", Eva Irene Brasfield Peal (wife of Josephus Cephas Peal) is a 3rd cousin, once removed. So if you are related to from that union we are probably related also. However, the "calculator" does not show any formal relationship to me through James Henry (Henry J.) Peal or Raspberry B. Peal. I have information on 2 different Ira Brasfields, but no information on a marriage to "Lula Peal". I would appreciate any information that you would be willing to share on Ira and Lula. Again, thank you for taking the time to "write".

    Notes:

    Mike,
I have decided that you should be afforded additional information so that you can draw your own conclusions about my information at hand.
The information I sent you is in the bible, but is typewritten and affords much more information than is handwritten. Since it consists of 4 pages and includes more recent data, I have concluded that Kirby did research and put together the information along with that written in our bible.
I am now going to start to give you only what is handwritten in our bible. On one page at the front is written Sollie W. Brasfield, Solomon W. Brasfield, Book, Jan 24th 1874. Another page which is the publication page has Willie Brasfield written with the Holy Bible between the two names. I think that Willie wrote that and it identified the bible as his possession.
On the marriages page there are two columns listing the following. I am not going to change any spellings seen.
    First column
George Brasfeild + Betsey Major was married August 23rd Day A. D. 1787
Willie Brasfeild son of the Afford + Emmaline Shaw married February the 22nd Day 1822 A.D.
George Simpson Brasfield and Martha D. Kennedy was married September the 20 day of 1848
Married on the 22nd of Nov. 1870 Kate D. Brasfield to James H. Norvell
    S. W. Brasfield son of G. S. and M. D. Brasfield was married to Cordie L. Cox Aug. 15 A. D. 1871
    Second column:
Married on the day of Augst 1882 Emma S. Brasfield to Geo. P. Holman
Married on the day of 1884 Sam G. Brasfield to Bashbie Wright
Dr. Albert Brasfield and Gussie F. Dabney was married Dec 20th 1893
Dr. Albert Brasfield and Maggie Norell Brasfield was married Oct 17th 1917
Landrum Brasfield and Maggie Norrell Brasfield was married Mch 16th 1910
Please note these possible dissimilarites from the handwritten and the typewritten pages in my possessions.
    Betsey Major not Elizabeth Majors
I do not understand the significance where under Willie Brasfeild is written son of the Afford. The rd in Afford may be something else. It is written with the letters very difficult to read in a fancy script.
Cordie L. Cox not Cordelia Louise Cox
Kate D. Brasfield not Demetria Kate
The information on Dr. Albert Brasfield and his two marriages supports the information that Albert married his son Landrum's wife as suggested on the typewritten list I previously sent you, but the bible does not mention that information. I do not know where it came from. Please note once again that there is no Wylie Brasfield written anywhere, only Willie
I will relay further information as I find time. I hope this information reported in the manner I have it will shed some new light on your research.
    Regards,
    Lyle
