Notes for JOHN BRASSFIELD:
John Brassfield moved from Arkansas to Hoyt, Indian Territory, about 1882 where he lived until 1884, at which time he removed to Eufaula, Indian Territory. Here, six miles due east of Eufaula, Oklahoma, is located the Brassfield Cemetery where he, his wile and his kin are buried. Here, on the Canadian River, he and his descendants operated the Brassfield Ferry until it was swept away in the overflow of 1906.
In 1890 John moved to Brooken, Indian Territory, where he purchased a general merchandise store from J.C. Belt.

Surname: Brassfield
I was wondering around on the internet looking for the county of Harrison, Arkansas. Then got off on Searcy Co. and found your note. YES, we tie in. And here is how.
Your Sarah I. Treat who married John Brassfield.
My Gr. Gr. Grandfather was Sedrick Perry Brassfield, son of Abner Brassfield and Lucinda GEE, he was born June 19, 1838, Grundy Co., MO.; died September 10, 1909 in Fame, McIntosh Co., Oklahoma (near Eufaula where the Large man-made lake was made). Sedrick Perry and his Wife Matilda (GEE) Brassfield are buried in the Fame, McIntosh Co., Ok. cemetery and it is on the internet. Their son, my Great Grandfather General Sheridan Brassfied (General was a real first name for him)...is buried beside them, Sedrick's name is listed as S. P. Brassfield and General Sheridan's is listed as G. S. Brassfield, and Matilda is as Matilda Brassfield.
Sedrick Perry Brassfield first married a (1) wife Polly Smith in Arkansas, but they had no children and if they did it died in childbirth when she died. He then married Matilda (GEE), my line.
Polly Smith Brassfield died in 1858 or 1859 in Newton Co., Arkansas leaving no heirs. Marriage to Matilda Gee was June 3, 1860 in Newton Co., Ark. by J. A. Week, J. P. Matilda was born ca. 1846 in Missouri.
Sedrick Perry Brassfield enlisted as Pvt. Copany C, 1st Regt. Ark. Vo.l. Inf. Feb. 11, 1863, Fayettevile, Ark. (Union forces); discharged August 10, 1865 (Certificate No. 2533720) he lived in 1855-to 1891 in Newton Co., Ark.; once lvied in Marion Co. Arkansas; lived in Indian Territory and I have a record that shows he and family arrived in Indian Territory March 4, 1890, it shows he lived in Hughes Co., Oklahoma and in 1891; lived in Indian Territory, Eufaula Creek Dist. No. 12, in 1904; lived in Hanna, Hughes Co., Ok.. in 1908.
The Census of 1870 shows one John S. Brassfield age 9 years born in Ark. .iving in the household of Sedrick Perry Brassfield. The Pension Papers of Sedrick did not list a son named John S. Brassfield. Bible and family papers were lost when the home of Sedrick Perry Brassfield was destroyed by fire Jan. 28 1909.
This is my line above....now I will back up and tell you where John Brassfield and Sarah I. (Belle) Treat fit in.
Going back to the parents of this John Brassfield you mention and my Sedrick Perry Brassfield, they were brothers, they were the sons of :
Abner Brassfield B. ca. 1808 in Chattanooga, Tn. He died after 1870 probably in Arkansas and probably in Searcy Co., Arkansas, I'm not sure here. He is probably the Abner that lived in Newton Co., Ark. in 1850 and 1870 and took amnesty oath June 4, 1865 at Clarksville, Ark. The 1840 Census show them in Polk Co., Mo. He bought land from Elizabeth Nancy GEE in Grundy Co., MO Sept. 17, 1848, Deed Bk C, p. 192 Grundy Co., Mo.
He married Lucinda "Cinderella) GEE Brassfield before 1829 probably in Arkansas, she was B. ca 1812 or 1817 in Tennessee and is buried in Ark. probably Searcy Co., Ark.
Abner Brassfield B. 1808 and Lucinda "Cinderella" GEE Brassfield had the following children of which your John Brassfield and my Sedrick Perry are two of them. They all are as follows: I will post any note for u, pls look for it.
Buried:
Bower- Brassfield Cemetery
