2. | CULVER, Oliver Belden was born on 11 Mar 1791 in Shoreham, Addison, Vermont, USA; died on 11 Dec 1852 in Athens, Menard, Illinois, USA. Notes: Oliver Belden Culver (1791-1852) was an active abolitionist, and a member of the Illinois Anti-Slavery Society. Oliver was also a member of the Springfield Anti-Slavery Society Constitution, and was one of the Springfield residents attending Alton's Elijah Lovejoy's Anti-Slavery Convention on October 26, 1837. A week later, Lovejoy was murdered by an angry mob early November 1837. Oliver was affilliated with both Indian Point Presbyterian and Second (Westminster) Presbyterian Church (and a founding member of the latter). Oliver married HOLCOMB, Elizabeth in 1819.
