Claude was publisher of The Post and later The Post-Athenian newspaper in Athens TN. He was the son of John Thompson Taylor and his wife Mary Louisa Furniss and the twin brother of Lulu Beatrice (Taylor) Maxwell. He served in Co. H., 2nd Nebraska Regiment, in the Spanish-American War (1898). He lived at Lovelaceville, Ballard Co KY, and then Chadron, Dawes Co NE. By 1900 had moved to Ascension Co LA with his brother Lee, and then to Athens, McMinn Co TN. He married (1), 3 Dec 1887, in Kentucky, Sue Jane Edwards (see link to her); they were divorced before 1903, when she remarried. Claude also remarried about 1917; his second wife was Mabel Archer, who was born ca. 1880 in Tennessee; she was a teacher and worked with her husband in the management of his newspaper.
