8. | BRASSFIELD, Orville Theosses was born on 16 Jul 1886 in St Joe, Searcy, Arkansas, USA (son of BRASSFIELD, Thomas Benton and DELK, Mary Ann); died on 28 Oct 1929 in Torrance, New Mexico, USA; was buried in Mountainair, Torrance, New Mexico, USA. Notes:
Good Morning, Michael David:
My wife and I just completed a "tour" of the web site. As Darth Vader would say, "Impressive!" We noted that my grandfather (Orvel Theosses) is listed and then under Brazfield spelling, Blaine H. - his son, my uncle. My father Gene (N.Jene) is the last living child of Orvel. According to family story: Orvel came to New Mexico between 1919 and early twenties with his three sons (Olin, Blain, Gene) after the death of my grandmother Gladys(Louvanna) Nations Brassfield in 1918.
According to the McAllister book ( as told to us), that is how they were listed My Dad has tried to find his birth records in both Oklahoma and Arkansas to no avail. Orvel's sisters, Ettie Mae and Mary Anne, settled in NM after their marriages also. We have been in contact with Ettie's daughter Ruby, living in Silver City NM; but have no information contact with any other of grandpa's kin.
My Grandfather Changed Brassfield to Brazfield, married Emelia Lajuenesse of Manzano NM, and had three children (Opel, Claude, and Dewey - they have passed on). He was known as Dewey or DB and his nickname was "Shorty." The Brazfields are all from his line and we are in Alaska, Pennslyvannia, California, Colorado, Arizona and thus the name in the phone book will produce a family member.
Hope to provide additional info in future, once I can find compatible software, unfortunately I have an iMac. I noted you have a copy of the McAllister book and we tried to see if it was available from the "link" you have posted, but it was not listed; is it possible to get just a copy of the page listing my Greatgrandfather Thomas Benton's children, which has my Dad's and his older brothers listed. Will gladly pay, if possible, for what you could send us. Please let me know. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Antonio Luis Brazfield

Mike,
Thanks for your response. On the 'nickname', I was referring to grandpa Orvel. He was nicknamed "shorty" and was also referred to as 'Dewey'. On dates for his wedding, birth, or death, I not sure. I can try to find out for some of my cousins. Anyway I certainly would greatly appreciate getting relevant pages from the Brasfield-Brassfield Genealogy Book by Anna McAllister.

Thanks again
Tony
