    Notes:

I'm attempting to do some research on what seems to be a very scattered topic. I'm looking for information on a George Brasfield. I do not have the dates on this except to say sometimes after 1850. This George Brasfield had a full blood cherokee living with him at one point by the name of Mary Matilda Lett. She was possibly the "cook". She and George Brasfield had two children together although I do not know their names. She also lived with a Phillips a Boover ( believed to have actually married this man) George Brasfield and a Jack Lindley She had two or three children with Phillips one of which was born in 1900, two more children with Boover by the names of Betty and John, two children with Brasfield and then lived with Lindley which is believed to have had no children with. I do believe this is the correct order of her life. If you have ANY information about this Mary Matilda Lett, please contact me. Thanks very much Sharon Cobb [sharonc@planters.net] 10/14/2003 ***************************** Posting on "Lett" surname board on Ancestry.com I am looking for information about Matilda Born around 1849 in Ala or Ms. Her daughter Lucy Jane Married My Great Grandfather William Arthur Parks around 1893 in Alabama. Thank you very much for reading this posting. Ron Boover rontheoldman@aol.com 9/16/2002 ************************************* My mother, Arrie. always called your dad by the name of Durad...or something like that...but if he was supposed to be Richard, he was probably named after Grandma (Mattie) Boover's brother Richard Montgomery, (Uncle Richard)...The name of Lechard might have been a misprint that was left that way....I have heard a few stories about where or how the Boover's name started in America...supposedly from an Irish immigrant that married Matilda Lett (Grandpa Boover, John O. Boover's dad) and died shortly thereafter in a drowning off a boat headed back to Ireland. That is the story I heard as to the origin of this set of Boovers in America. Doris Eastetr dzsateras@hotmail.com 6/16/2003 ************************************** There is on one genealogy site a reference to a relationship between a George Brasfield and a Matilda Lett that produced one or more children. I am wondering if there is any record whatsoever in your research to support this reference to said relationship. In our family research, we have pinpointed evidence that she had at least one son (father unknown) or possibly two that are a mystery to their identity or to what eventually happened to them. There is also 2 distinct periods in her life during which we have NO information. The most mysterious of these was between 1870 and 1900. The other mystery would pertain to her late teen years which are also unknown. Matilda was born in 1848 in either Alabama or Mississippi. At the age of one year however, she was a resident of Tishomingo County in Mississippi and resided with her father, Belfield Lett and her mother, Emeline Shirley Lett. Any info whatsoever that you or anyone else can give to shed light on this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Any record whatsoever that may be found of a possible relationship between Matilda Lett and a George Brasfield in either Mississippi or Alabama would provide clues and would be a good starting point to search from. It is unknown who placed the info on one or more genealogy sites on the web that this relationship did indeed exist, so the origin of that info is also a mystery that needs unraveling. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give in this endeavor. Sincerely, Doris Easter, Dzasteras@hotmail.com
