    BRASSFIELD Winfield Cyrus "Winn", 80, widower of Rosanne Brassfield, entered the Gates of Heaven on Thu, April 7, 2011. Born in Palco, KS, he was a son of the late Christopher and Mary Brassfield. First and foremost, Winn was a man of God, a loving and devoted father, and always generous to those in need. He was a retired engineer of I.B.M., a Korean War veteran, and a member of the First Church of God. While at I.B.M., he remained active by working in several church ministries. Winn taught Sunday school, was the President of the Men's Brotherhood, and was on the State Board for Kingdom Builders. Upon retirement, he worked in his son's delivery business programming computer systems for customer billing and accounting, and keeping the delivery trucks running. Winn always enjoyed tinkering on things that didn't work. His special interests included sports, helping others and playing with children, especially his grandchildren and great grandkids. Winn was a dedicated member of the Big Blue Nation. Survivors include a son, Steven (Beverly) Brassfield, Richmond, and three daughters, Sharon Vrolijk, Lexington, Sheila (Don) Edwards, Richmond and Melody Struk, Corinth; five grandchildren, Veronica Vrolijk (Michael) Camacho, Kris Vrolijk, Michael Struk, Joe Struk and Lauren Winn Brassfield; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Vrolijk, Victoria Rose Camacho, Xavier Camacho and Emma Madyson Tate Abell; three brothers, Christopher Colin Brassfield, MT, Paul Edward Brassfield, KS, Irl Laverne Brassfield, KS; and four sisters, Christina Mary Burkenbine, OR, Faye Kiser, WA, Laura Rose McCall, CO and Velma Ruth Smith, WA. Additionally, Winn leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Clay Brassfield and Elmer Ray Brassfield, and sisters Nancy Eleanor Rill and Belva Jane Zahn. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County. Visitation will be 4-8pm Mon, April 11 at Kerr Bros., Main Street. Funeral service at First Church of God, 505 Kingston Road, Lex, 3pm Tue, with visitation one hour before service.
