Michael, I went back to the library today and found a book "Greene County Alabama Records" by Marshall. I found the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In it I found the following:
Malissa Brasfield - April 24, 1844/May 23, 1869
Roeney wife of J. Brasfield - d. May 12, 1844
Inf. son J. & Roeney Brasfield - June 10, 1830/June 18, 1836 Inf. son J., & Roeney Brasfield - April 4, 1844/May 20, 1844
Does this blow our theory out of the water or does it open a can of worms?

Michael, on William Leon Brassfield 8-12-1896 - 12-15-1967 1 - why is one child name withheld? 2 - why is spouse on James Albert withheld? Then on Rowena Carpenter - In searching in books named "Alabama Records" I found in Greene County in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Lewiston a listing for Roeney wife of J. Brasfield d. May 12, 1844. Could this possibly be Rowena Carpenter who married John "Jackey" Brasfield? He married a second time January 2, 1847 to Rebecca Valentine in Greene County. This would fall into the time frame for them. Rowena's last baby, Levi, was born in 1843. Would like your input. Dorothy Brasfield dbras@bellsouth.net 7/21/2001 I found this information in some books at the Shreve Memorial Library in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are about 245 volumes "Alabama Records" and they include marriages, wills, deaths, cemetery, and etc. This information on Roeney was in volume 192, page 58.
