She said she remembers May Thompson telling she was alive when Pres. Lincoln died and she remembers the train ride that he made to his resting place from WA. DC to Illinois. She saw that train! May Thompson also had a brother and a father who fought in the Civil War and escaped from Libby Prison. . .they almost starved to death!
There is a May T. Jenks in the 1930 Census in Spokane at age 71 (would make her born about 1859), born in Ohio. May is shown as "Head of Household" with a 30 year old single daughter by the name of Pearl M. Jenks, born in Michigan. It also shows that Pearl's father was born in Michigan. All of this matches what we have so far on Evart & May. This particular May Jenks shows both parents born in England.
