16754 | Willard "Bill" Brasfield, 73, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 15, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Kenneth Fowler, pastor of Amarillo Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Willard was born Feb. 2, 1934, in St. Louis, and was raised there. He moved to Amarillo in 1978 to work for Bell Helicopter until his retirement. He also worked for The Pit Stop, with his special friend, Mark Perdue, and worked for Jiffy Lube for 17 years. Willard married Betty Akes on Oct. 6, 1995, in Amarillo. One thing everyone knew about him was that he was an avid John Wayne fan. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing horseshoes and cards. He never met a stranger, and would help anyone that was in need. Willard will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a son, Edmond Belter; a daughter, Aretta Westerholt; a brother, Sam Brasfield; a sister, Frances Brasfield; two grandsons, Jeffrey and Arthur Westerholt; and a great-granddaughter, Jaden Menza. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Willard Brasfield Jr. of St. Louis, Larry Belter of Alamogordo, N.M., and Aaron Belter of Frankston; four daughters, Gail Brasfield and Joyce Brasfield, both of St. Louis, Theresa Kinser of Mesa, Ariz., and Janie Cameron of Amarillo; a brother, Arthur Brasfield of Euless; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lance and Teresa Caple of Amarillo. She was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Mena and was formerly the senior center and site director for Logan County. She was a member of Westwood Baptist in Greenwood. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, at Westwood Baptist Church with burial in Cross Cemetery in Greenwood, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Lyness McMillian of Greenwood; one son, Gary Brassfield of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. 16791 | Wilma Ruth Phillips Forsyth was born June 28, 1919 in Adamsville, Tennessee the daughter of the late Tommy Calvin and Hattie Lee Kemp Phillips. She was united in marriage to Estel Lee Forsyth on January 1, 1941. Mr. Forsyth preceded her in death on June 24, 2008. Mrs. Forsyth was a nurses' aide for 18 years at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer, Tennessee and was a member of the Fourth Street church of Christ. First and foremost, she was a homemaker, and helped her husband farm. She also worked in the garden, enjoyed canning, made her daughter's clothes, and liked to play the harmonica. She believed idle hands were the devil's workshop, and was always busy doing something constructive. She strongly encouraged her daughters to do the same. Mrs. Forsyth departed this life on February 23, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 7 Months, 26 Days. She is survived by six daughters: Gail (Forsyth) Lafferty and husband Larry of Nashville, TN, Judy Turner and husband Jim of Selmer, TN, Carolyn Bowers and husband Ted of Selmer, TN, Sandra (Sandy) Singleton and husband John of Jackson, TN, Connie Hurst and husband Albert of Little Rock, AR, and Dorothy Heath and husband Tommy of Selmer, TN; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Doris Forsyth of Selmer, TN; a brother, Arnold Phillips and wife Sue of Adamsville, TN; three half-sisters: Linda Wicker of Eads, TN, Kay Robison of Jacks Creek, TN, and Peggy Bishop of Adamsville, TN; a half-brother, Billy Wayne Phillips of Adamsville, TN; two sister-in-laws: Dessie Phillips of Savannah, TN and Allene Forsyth of Selmer, TN; a brother-in-law, Wilson Forsyth of Adamsville, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
