- Army Spc. Artimus D. Brassfield of Flint, died instantly Friday when a mortar struck nearby while he was playing basketball at an Iraq military base. Artimus's aunt, Karmen Williams, believes President Bush should withdraw the troops now. "He needs to say enough is enough, just bring our boys home." Six ministers from four area churches spoke or sang in the service Wednesday, which also featured a solo vocal performance by Flint Sgt. Jowanne Carrigan, an aunt of Brassfield. Brassfield leaves his wife, Andrea of Texas; mother, Patricia Richardson of Xenia, Ohio; father, Cary Brassfield of Flint; two sisters, Lakisha and Artesia Brassfield of Bellbrook, Ohio; and a brother, Quintan Brassfield of Muskegon.
