- Michael, I am looking for a John Massey who married Dicey Killingsworth 12 Oct 1810 in Johnston County, NC. The John I am looking for became involved in counterfeiting with Dicy's two brothers, John T. (a silversmith and gunsmith) and Freeman Killingsworth. Freeman was jailed Nov 1812. John Killingsworth and John Massey fled but were apprehended and jailed in Nov 1813. 1823, is the last document I have for John T and John Massey. They were being transported from the jail in Wake County to Johnston County. (Freeman had died in jail) I am assuming they may have served their time and were released as some researcher of the Killingsworth families say John T. Killingsworth moved to Nashville and opened a gun shop with one of his sons. Dicy did not stick around long as John T's wife had to identify her signature on papers in Johnston County, in Nov 1812. She may have gone with her brother and husband when they ran. I am trying to find if Dicy and John divorced and she remarried and is a Dicy Carlton (Cartton) I have found in Marshall County Tennessee in 1850. If any of this sounds like it could fit your John, son of Richard and Dorothy Unk. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Carol D. Monroe
