- Sarajane Brassfield, 85, died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2009, at her home in Sonoma with her son, John T. Bordynski, and her caregiver, Selina Chaaban, at her side.
She was born on Nov. 24, 1923, to Jake and Sidney Caraway in Vancouver, Wash. Sarajane was a World War II veteran and served at Travis Air Force Base as an airplane instrument specialist until her marriage to Thaddeus Bordynski in 1945. She was a devoted member of St. Francis Solano Parish. Sarajane was an active member of the Sonoma Valley Garden Club since 1986 and served twice as president. She worked as medical records librarian for Federal Service at Fort Ord, for more than 10 years. She would read to the clients for three hours a day. Her joy was to sing at Richardson's (SDC) house on Tuesdays, to a full audience. She was constantly recruiting for the advocacy program.
After her family and garden, one of her great loves and pastimes was cooking and baking and cake decorating. Bordynski, Richard O. Bordynski, both of Gold Beach, Ore., and her daughter Marie T. Bordynski, of Knoxville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Bryce Dick and Aaron Webb, and preceded by Austin Dick, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; and her great-grandchildren, Acelyn Marie Dick and Gabriel Mikel-Paul Dick, also of Knoxville, Tenn.
