- 16 Feb 2000 Weakley County, Tennessee cemeteries I am interested in Weakley County Tennessee. I have relatives burried in Beech Grove Cemetary. This is located between the towns of Greenfield and Dresden. My greatgrand mother Louisa Ward was burried there around 1949. She was 109 years of age. Her maiden name was Brassfield. The Brassfield family was her slave owners. Her husband lost his life in the bottom of a well. When he suffercated. And was covered over. The called the reason "Black Damp". (lack of oxygen). Only known as "Pap". He was half white. Their daughter Minnie Mae was my grandmother. Born Jan.1,1883. Also a few miles north of Beech Grove Cemetary is the Jones Chapel Cemetary. Where my Greatgrand father was burried by the name of Levy Thompson. Levy was purchased from the Nailing family. Levy fathered 22 children by Frances. Half of these were born in slavery. Bell and Wiley were twins. Bell was my grandfather. Born Feb.9,1883 . George Thompson was the youngest brother of Bell Thompson, who served in World War One. Later moved to St. Louis, Mo. where he married Tenola. Died in the 60's and was burried in Jefferson Barrick Military Cemetary.George was born in the 1890's.
