- Brasfield, Theodore Jake, Jr., 74, North Maple Street, Somerset, Kentucky passed away Friday, May 20th, 2005 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Corbin, Kentucky. He was born October 3rd, 1930 in Elihu, Kentucky, son of the late Theodore Brasfield and Myrtle Burton Brasfield. He was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran, serving 13 years in the National Guard and 20 years in active duty, retiring after attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with numerous other medals and ribbons. After retiring from the Army he served as ROTC Instructor for Pulaski County High School for 7 years and 5 years as Traffic Safety Officer with Somerset Police Department. He was a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #634, American Legion Post #38, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Somerset Loin Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerset
He is survived by his wife; Shirley L. Padgett Brasfield, whom he married on April 24th, 1961 in Jellico, Tennessee: one son; Stephen E. Brasfield: four daughters; Karen D. Brasfield, Lorie Ramsey, Terri D. Burton and Tammy Todd: one brother; Johnny Brassfield: one sister; Juanita Dorsey: 3 half sisters; Carrie, Jean and Mary Lou: step mother; Lucille Brassfield: two brothers-in-law; Eugene and Hellon Padgett and Sonny and Toni Padgett: 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Foster son; Brandon Leslie Brassfield: one brother: Lee Brassfield: one sister; Virginia Burton: father & mother-in-law; Norma & Juanita Padgett: one brother-in-law; Jerry W. Padgett. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24th, 2005 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother J. S. New officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Somerset, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 23rd, 2005 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
