- Opal Moncier Brasfield, 92, of Goodlettsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Golden Living in Springfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Liberty Hall Church in Gadsden, Tenn. with Rev. Jackie Moncier officiating. Burial will follow at Oakview Memorial Gardens in Alamo with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Logan Smith. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier from noon-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the Liberty Hall Church in Gadsden on Friday, Sept. 10 from 5-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Mrs. Brasfield was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Goodlettsville to the late Tom and Nellie Sanders Moncier. She was a homemaker and member of the Liberty Hall Full Gospel Church in Gadsden. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Brasfield; brothers, Rosco Moncier, John Moncier and Paul Moncier, and her granddaughter, Patricia Forsythe. Mrs. Brasfield is survived by her daughter, Nellie Forsythe Thomas of Goodlettsville; grandchildren, Billy Forsythe and Mary Smith; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, April Smith and April Lyell; and great-great-grandchild, Logan Smith.
