Betty F. Brasfield, 68, left our side after a long, and well-fought battle with cancer May 10, 2008 in Independence, Mo.
Betty was born March 31, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo. She was a lifelong resident of the Independence area. As a business owner on the Independence Square, she was active member in the Independence Chamber of Commerce, and Independence Square Business Association. She was also a member of the Red Hatters, and former President of the Medical Center of Independence Auxiliary unit. Betty was very active in her family and community and will be missed by many.
Betty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tom Brasfield of Independence, Tom and Betty were married March 4, 1956. Also surviving are her mother, Selma Landburg of Independence; her children, daughter, Debie Jacks of Independence, son, Rick Brasfield of Independence, daughter, Kris Ray of Lees Summit, Mo., and son, Mark Brasfield of Independence. She also had four grandchildren, Kim Jacobs, Kelly Trusty, Cory Brasfield and Sara Ray. Included as well are four great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, with a celebration of her life following, at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City, 816-523-1234.
