    Owida Faye Brasfield Meek passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior August 21, 2010. She was born May 25, 1927, in Wardville, Oklahoma, to Etta Mae and J.P. Brasfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her two brothers, Troy and Dale. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe of Odessa; sister, LaVon Seymour of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter, Cheryl Richards and husband Dave of Odessa; son, Blake and wife Lynn of Roswell, New Mexico; daughter, Paula Mitchell and husband Todd of Odessa; grandchildren, April, Jessica, Emily, Jacob, Sarah, Kailee and Kameron; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Aiden and Addison. Owida and Joe were married June 20, 1950, in Bentonville, Arkansas. They were married 60 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In her life she demonstrated what James called “pure and undefiled religion” in James 1 verse 27. She was always willing to give her time to help others - a true servant of Christ. She was well known for her cooking with friends and family commenting, “nobody cooks like Owida.” Her name evoked many questions to its origin - and the fact is she was named after an Indian princess. Owida loved her family and living life to the fullest. She will no doubt bring that same enthusiasm and joy to her new home in heaven. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. Celebration service will be Wednesday August 25, 2010, 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Bishop officiating. Donations may be made to the Younger Alzheimer’s Center at Manor Park, 2208 N. Loop 250 W. Midland, TX 79707-6000. Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Odessa.

    Dale, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, March 20, 1995 at the age of 54. Dale was born in Kiowa, Ok. on July 17, 1940. In 1971, he founded Central Copy Company and was currently active in commercial real estate. Dale was a longtime member of Faith Tabernacle and Lakeside Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his father, J.P. Brasfield of McAlester and survived by his son, Curtis Brasfield and daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Drew Dozier, all of Oklahoma City; mother of his children, Gen Brasfield of Oklahoma City; mother, Etta Mae Brasfield of McAlester, Ok.; brother, Troy Brasfield of Arpelar, Ok.; two sisters, Owida Meek of Odessa, Tx. and Lavon Seymour of Canadian, Ok. Dale was deeply loved by his family and many friends. He will be missed by all of us.

We are certain laughter and joy filled all of glory. Dena Kay Brasfield was born December 19, 1969. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Brasfield; maternal grandparents, Rev. Alton and Lucille Parker; and paternal grandparents, J.P. and Etta Mae Brasfield. She is survived by her loving mother, Genevieve Brasfield; and her brother, Curtis Brasfield; also, uncles and aunts: Bill and Mary Parker, Joe and Georgia Stevens, Bob and Donna Parker, Joe and Owida Meek, Janie Brasfield and Lavon Seymour; and cousins: Chuck and Stephanie Sales, David and Rita Flora, Tom and Tina Parker, Scott and Connie Champlain, Mark and Holli Stevens, Scott and Amber Durham, Julie Ulvog, Dwayne Flora, Jason Sales, Justin Sales, Jared Sales, Melissa Fitzhugh, Heather Holman, Jennifer Parker, Amy Parker, Amanda Champlain, Andrea Champlain, Alexandria Stevens, Kelsi Durham, Ronnie Scott, Randy and Suzy Scott, Cheryl and Dave Richards, Paula and Todd Mitchell, Glyndora Pettis, Karla Barnett, and Cindy Allen. Dena brought to our family unequalled laughter and delight. We were her audience she never tired of entertaining, but now Heaven is her stage. Her charming personality and her unique charisma will remain with us forever. Visitation will be Sunday, 4-8 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 1, 2010, at Highpointe Church (6810 NW 122nd). Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
