    Rebekah, was killed at the age of 17, probably around 1940-1944 or so. She was shot by a former wheelchair bound boyfriend while in their yard in Curve, TN. He may also have been a neighbor who was found to be mentally ill at trial.

    He and 3 other U.S. Army GI's wer captured by German troops near St. Lo, France on July 16, 1944 at 2 am in the morning, while on patrol. Later that night, while the 4 were being guarded by only 2 guards, they overpowered the guards, killed them with bayonets and escaped. They made it back to their own lines.     Walter Lee Brasfield, Lee’s Summit, died Aug. 16, 2010. Walt was born Sept. 11, 1958 in Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, and an infant daughter. He is survived by his mother, Amy (Ball) Brasfield, Edwardsville, Ill.; children, Amanda Brasfield, Chicago, Ill., and Derrick (Michelle) Brasfield, Granite City, Ill.; one grandson, Gabarial Brasfield, Granite City; and brothers, Ronald, Lee’s Summit, and Steven, Cahokia, Ill. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the St. Louis area. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Victory Junction Gang Camp, www.victoryjunction.org.
