  1. 1.  BRASFIELD, Casper LafayetteBRASFIELD, Casper Lafayette was born on 23 Jun 1917 in Monroe County, Mississippi, United States of America; died on 10 Oct 1992 in Amory, Monroe, Mississippi, USA; was buried in Amory, Monroe, Mississippi, USA.

    Notes:

Casper Lafayette Brasfield was born June 23, 1917 as the seventh of eight children to Joseph Arthur Brasfield and Ora Beulah Ausborn Brasfield. He enlisted and served in the US Army during World War II in the 79th Division, 314 Regiment, 2nd Battalion, H Company. Battles and campaigns included Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He received many decorations and citations including ATO Medal, EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal with one OLC, Dist Unit Badge and World War II Victory Medal. While overseas during the war, he learned of his fathers passing in 1944 by a letter from his oldest sister, Fleta. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army on December 19, 1945 and returned to his home in Monroe County, Mississippi.

He worked in the lumber industry with Gilmore Puckett Lumber Company until heart problems forced him to retire. He never stopped working though. He could build anything if it involved a hammer and piece of lumber. He raised four children and was very proud of them all. He enjoyed his three granddaughters and one grandson as well. Two more grandchildren, as well as three great-grandchilden have come along since Daddy's passing, but there is no doubt he would have been entertained by them also.

Daddy loved to talk about the War and share his experiences. Some of Daddy and Mama's most enjoyable times were spent organizing, planning and attending army reunions all over the United States as well as hosting smaller reunions at their home in Amory with 8 or 10 couples who lived nearby in neighboring states. My siblings and I also enjoyed helping with the reunions and listening to all the stories.

One Saturday night Daddy was suffering from an excruciating head ache. Mama called the ambulance to take him to the hospital. Daddy was suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which evidentially ruptured in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Daddy died one week later October 10, 1992 in the Intensive Care Unit at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory, Mississippi.

Thank you Daddy for being you. You were a great man and I was always so proud to call you Daddy. I miss you everyday. Your daughter, Patricia Elaine Brasfield Simmons.
