    Melvin Hugh Brasfield, 86, of Pumpkin Center, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Oak Grove Church of Christ in Pumpkin Center. Following viewing, funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with burial to follow at the adjoining cemetery. Jerry Johnson will officiate.

    He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Anne Brasfield; brothers, Edgar, Vert, Evan and John; sisters, Ora, Flora and Hazel.

    He is survived by his wife, Annie Jo Brasfield of Pumpkin Center; sons, Dr. Michael Brasfield (Darlene) of Jasper, Bradley Brasfield (Luajuana) of Jasper, Scott Brasfield (Stephani) of Tuscaloosa and Joe Brasfield (Dawn) of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Britany (Patrick), Justin, Ashlie, Tyler (Sara), Morgan, Mikenzi and J.P.; great-grandchildren Lynlee and Seth. Pallbearers will be Allen Corley, Robert Corley, Justin Brasfield, Tyler Brasfield, J.P. Brasfield, Frank Brasfield and Paul Brasfield.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Church of Christ.
