Ms. Sue Colquitt Oertley, age 69, died Monday morning at Hospice of Savannah. The Thomaston, Ga. native was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. She received her bachelor of science in physical education from the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville in 1958 and received her master's of science in physical education from Georgia Southern College in 1966. Ms. Oertley served as a P.E. and science teacher at Chamblee High School from 1958-1965, a P.E. instructor at Georgia Southern from 1965-1966, at Statesboro High School from 1969-1980 and at Marvin Pittman Laboratory School from 1980 until her retirement in 1994. She was a tennis coach for Statesboro High School from 1969-1980, a tennis instructor for Forest Heights Country Club from 1978 until 1981 and the tennis instructor for the Statesboro Recreation Department from 1983 until 1992. Ms. Oertley was a member of the Pittman Park United Methodist Church. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Southern Links Golf Club.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kristi Oertley Lowenthal and John Lowenthal of Savannah and Kandi Oertley Lanier of Statesboro; two sisters, Dona Belle Colquitt Lifsey of Barnesville and Linda Lou Colquitt Kuder of Georgetown, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Matthew and Merritt Lowenthal, both of Savannah, and Leyton Lanier of Statesboro.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Pittman Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Huling officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
