1. | AITKEN, Melvin Romaine was born on 23 Aug 1915 in Scotia, Humboldt, California, USA; died on 10 Jun 2002 in Seattle, King, Washington, USA. A 1938 forestry engineering graduate of Oregon State University, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps 16 months prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. As a B-17 pilot for the duration of the World War II, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was discharged in December 1945. After the war, he returned to Seattle and employment with Howard-Cooper Corporation, where he had many years of success selling equipment to the forestry industry. Over the course of his 36-year career with the company, he was promoted to vice-president in charge of Seattle operations. Melvin married HERSLIP, Mathilda on 12 Jan 1973 in King, Washington, USA.
