Hon . T . M . Perry , president of the Marengo County Board of Revenue , died Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock, after an illness of several days . Funeral services were held from the home in Linden this ( Thursday ) afternoon at four o'clock, with the Rev . W . L . Borom , Baptist pastor of Thomaston and the Rev . U . L . Martin , Methodist pastor of Linden , conducting the rites . Interment was in the New Linden Cemetery. Active pall bearers were J . W . Anderson , W . C . Eppes , R . M . Patterson , J . W . Tutt , J . P . Nichols and T . W . Shields . A large number of sorrowing friends and relatives assembled at the home to pay the last tribute of respect and follow the body to its last resting place , including many from Mobile , Montgomery and other out-of-county points . Surviving are his widow , Mrs . Alice Cannon Perry ; two daughters , Mrs . Ed Strickland of Vineland and Mrs . Marvin Hooks of Milton , Fla .; five sons , Brasfield Perry and Arthur Perry of Linden , Johnnie Perry of Mobile , Claude Perry of Milton , Fla ., and Clyde Perry of Camp Phillips , Kansas ; a sister , Mrs . Albert Huckabee of Mobile ; three brothers , Braxton Perry of Aimwell , Lum Perry of Aransas Pass , Texas , and Grover Perry of Jemison ; nine grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Mr . Perry was born at Nicholsville, Ala ., August 31, 1877, and would have been 66 years old at his next birthday. He was a son of George E . and Nellie Elizabeth ( Pope ) Perry . All his life was spent in Marengo County . He married Miss Alice Cannon Feb . 13, 1900. He was a member of the Baptist Church , a Mason , and a Woodman of the World . Although his opportunities for education were limited he was well versed in the school of humanity, and took an active part in the public and political affairs of the county since early manhood. As a good neighbor and loyal friend , he had few equals , and his wide acquaintance developed a strong following, which made him a factor to be reckoned with . He had served as president of the Board of Revenue for eleven years , which was the only office of profit he had ever asked at the hands of the people for himself. During this period he had been a member of many important committees working on problems relating to county governmental agencies and public affairs, and his homely council and good practical views were always listened to with interest and respect. He was indefatigable in the performance of the duties of his office and the service of his constituents, and devoted his time and efforts unstintedly for the county and public welfare . In his passing the county has lost a valuable public servant .
