Robert Ernst FENN Born May 3, 1920 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Ella (Madenwald) and Sizzo Fenn; died November 5, 2010 in Seattle, WA. An army veteran of World War II from 1942-1945, Robert served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre as a cryptographer, receiving a bronze star for his part in the Philippine Liberation. August 3, 1948 he married Margaret Patricia Walsh in Ashland, WI and soon thereafter they moved to Seattle. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Seattle University, was employed with Boeing for 20 years as a parts buyer, and founded (with two partners) Air Spares, Inc., sellers of airplane parts. Upon retirement, Robert bought a fishing boat (El Tigre). In addition to globetrotting with Margaret and spending time with his children and grandchildren, Bob spent many happy summers charter fishing out of Westport, WA, where the only thing he enjoyed more than catching a big king salmon was teaching someone else how to land one. He was generous to a fault and will be remembered for his big heart and infectious laughter. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, with whom he shared 62 years of joy; sons, David (Ruth) and Mark (Ann); and grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Kyle and Liam. He leaves behind his beloved sisters, Edythe and Elinor, and many more relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his brother, Elbert Fenn. Bob's joys in life were his family, fishing, rockhounding, cooking, painting, and storytelling. He and Margaret loved to travel and made friends everywhere they went. We would like to extend special thanks to Bob's devoted in-home caregivers, and to the staff at Ballard Care and Rehabilitation Center, Polyclinic and Swedish Hospital. Private Family Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Long Live the Kings (salmon conservation) www.lltk.org; or Ballard Food Bank, 5130 Leary Ave. N. W., Seattle, WA 98107. Please sign the online guest book at www.legacy.com. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey

    Elbert Fenn
Elbert R. Fenn, age 85, of Oshkosh, died Monday morning, July 2, 2007 at his home. He was born on November 30, 1921 in Oshkosh to Sizzo and Ella (Madenwald) Fenn. Elbert married Marilyn Baier on May 15, 1943 in Oshkosh and she preceded him in death on June 11, 1986.
Elbert was employed at Leach Company, Jewel Tea Company, ran his own Mobil Oil Service Station in Markesan, and ended his career at Rockwell Standard in Oshkosh. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Elbert served with the U.S. Army in India during WWII.
During his early life, he was a pitcher of great accomplishment, playing in the amateur leagues in Oshkosh, Ripon, and Markesan. Although best known for his pitching prowess, Elbert’s claim to fame was a home run hit half way up the light pole in deepest center field at Ripon Park. He loved to fish and often spoke of the wonderful times he had with his dad and brother, Bob. Hunting tales were also topics of many a boastful evening.
As he became a senior, his name would often be on top of the horseshoe competition for the Oshkosh Senior Olympics but his favorite place to get away to was the Far Vu Golf Course with his friends. Always a friendly chap, Elbie would talk to anyone at anytime and they would immediately feel like they had made a new best friend. He loved all little children and now he rests peacefully as a child of Heaven.
Survivors include three sons, Richard (Susan) Fenn of Madison, Timothy (Shauna) Fenn of Mansfield, Texas, and Stephen Fenn of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Fenn of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Edyth Aggen of New Holstein, and Elinor Webster of Rochester, Minnesota.
