In 2012, Leonda Brassfield claimed in Probate Court proceedings, for estate of Donald E. Pearson, that she signed divorce papers for Douglas Monroe Ricky in Utah. A private investigator failed to find final divorce paperwork in either Nevada, Utah, or Texas, which were states where both parties resided between 1976 and 2012.
