Funeral services for William Eickhoff, who died in this village on Tuesday of last week, were held a First Lutheran church at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. Palmer Wahl officiated and Mrs. L. E. Peterson and Gerhard Johnson sang solos. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Eric Hanson, John Nessheim, Axel Westlund, Val Meckes, Emmanuel Bentson and Olin Hagen. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. 0. B. Hagen, Mrs. Axel Westlund, Mrs. Sanford Iverson and Mrs. E. J. Bentson.
Among those from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Vetting and daughter Arlene, and Mrs. Olga Kieselhorst, Mrs. Viola Schroeder, Mrs. Herbert Vetting, Mrs. Olga Kieselhorst, Donald Larson and Mrs. Anna Jacobson, all of Manitowoc. Miss Dora Eickhoff, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eickhoff and daughter, Mrs. John Reed, of Antigo; Miss Sophie Holm, of Shawano; Lieut. Jack Eickhoff, of Columbus, Ohio; John Reed, of Great Lakes Naval Training Station; Mrs. Charles Holm, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Loberg, Miss Clare Holm, Miss Hildegard Holm, Mrs. Oscar Holm, Norman Holm, and Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kirkeby, all of lower Morris.
William Frederick Christian Eickhoff was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 5, 1860. While a young man he went to St. Hilaire, Minnesota, where he farmed for a number of years and also worked at other occupations. On November 8, 1885, he was married at St. Hilaire, to Miss Marie Larson, of Manitowoc. In 1908 he and his family moved to this village where he passed away at his home on May 30 after an illness of more than a year.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, one son, Harold, of Antigo, and two daughters, Myrtle (Mrs. Henry Hanson), of this village, and Dora of Chicago; also one sister, Emma, of Callicoon, New York. Two daughters, Mabel and Helen, and three brother and one sister preceded him in death. He also leaves six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
