    AMORY - Edith Nell Montgomery Brasfield, 99, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Oak Tree Plantation in Amory after a long illness. She was born May 3, 1908, in Decatur, Ala., to the late John Gregory Montgomery Jr. and Lonie Parham Montgomery. She lived in Decatur and the Splunge community, and in Amory for the past 82 years. She married Aubrey Lee Brasfield in 1925; he died in 1963. She was a member of the UMW, Modern Homemakers, DAR, UDC, the church choir and the garden club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening, working as a seamstress and cooking.

    Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with the Rev. Rusty Keen and the Rev. David Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Amory.

    Survivors include one son, Lee Montgomery Brasfield (Lois) of Amory; one sister, Evelyn Kennedy of Amory; four grandchildren, Vicki Horne Cunningham, Jack D. Horne Jr. (Libby), Ricky Lee Brasfield and Bradley Brasfield (Neita); eight great-grandchildren, Whit Brasfield, Lindsay Brasfield, Taylor Brasfield, Katy Cunningham McCurley, Jay Cunningham, Kayla Horne, Kerri Horne and Rorie Thornton; two nieces, Ann Montgomery Lusk and Becky Kennedy Banks.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Bettianne Horne; one grandson, Mark David Brasfield; one sister, Maye Montgomery; and one brother, Charles Montgomery.

    Pallbearers will be Jim Cunningham, Clay McCurley, Bobby Hudson, Jimmy Lee Lusk, Phil Roberts and Donald "Tootsie" Mize.

    Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.

    Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 147, Amory, MS 38821.
